About – Tasos Bouras

Tasos Bouras is a Greek visual artist known for his multifaceted practice. He started his artistic journey in the late 1970s when he settled for some years in Switzerland. He later returned to Greece, and in 1997, he had his first solo exhibition at the Zygos Gallery. In 1999, he co-founded the U.T.M. (Underground Television Movement) with other artists and showcased both paintings and sculptures in video art installations. During this same period, he also designed sets and costumes for theatre productions. In recent years, he has been working on the “Myrmidons” project, which consists of more than 200 warriors made from old ship wood washed ashore by the sea on the island of Psara. He has exhibited the “Myrmidons” in the annual Sculpture Exhibition of the Byzantine and Christian Museum. Bouras has held numerous solo and group exhibitions, and his works can be found in many private collections. He is a member of the “Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece” and the “Weedschat” art collective. He lives and works between Athens and Psara Island.
